Twenty-four-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, there’s always a crew ready to fly, at any of STAT MedEvac’s 17 bases throughout western Pennsylvania. When a call comes in, the flight team, which consists of a pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic, can be in the air within a matter of minutes. After the crew performs a quick checklist, they’re inbound to the scene of the accident.

When the helicopter lands at the scene, the flight nurse and paramedic take over. They both work to stabilize the patient while the pilot flies to a trauma center. During the flight, the team is in constant contact with the hospital trauma team, so they’re ready to take over and provide life-saving care.

On average, there are 27 flights per day throughout all the STAT MedEvac bases. And in 2014, there were 10,034 total flights. Needless to say, STAT MedEvac is ready when you need them!
